Welcome to Tanzania Partners!

Tanzania Partners is a ministry of St. Andrew's Lutheran Church in Ames, Iowa, working on humanitarian projects in the Hedaru Ward of the Kilimanjaro region of Tanzania in East Africa.

Along with our partners in Tanzania, we are just completing a large water rehabilitation project in Hedaru, Tanzania, a village of over 22,000 people located at the foot of the Pare mountains.  The final stage of the water project is being completed now as the trenches are dug for the final pipes to connect the water source in the mountains to the village.

A $25,000 Rotary Humanitarian Grant has been approved, and is expected in early 2010 from the Ames Rotary.  It will build a new water distribution system in the village to fairly distribute the water that will soon flow to the city.

There are new projects underway, especially the new Goat Milk? project! Get involved today!

Water Project Update

Phase 3, which links the intake and storage tank to the city, is nearing completion.  The installation of the final pipes is expected in early 2010. Learn more about the water project and get involved!

Goat Milk?

The Tanzanian Ministry Team is currently working on a Heifer Goat Farming Project with the people of Hedaru Lutheran Church.  This project will bring much needed milk, cheese and income to the farmers of Hedaru, and goats are the perfect livestock in our semi-arid climate there!
